For the last several nights, there has been a neighborhood cat, who's it is, I have no idea, it's not familiar to me, roaming about the backyard in the still of the night, when people are sound asleep. That is until the stupid cat starts whinning and whimpering and making all sorts of loud noises. She's apparently in heat, thus the wild and crazy sound effects.
Friday night was the absolute worst. It was off and on ALL NIGHT LONG. And it sounded as if our backyard was the only one being graced with the performance. The next few nights haven't been nearly as bad, but still enough to wake us up in the night.
I looked up online how long a cat can be in heat, and she can be in heat anywhere from 2 to 19 days! I'm hoping that for this cat, it's no where near the latter of those two numbers!

I am not a cat lover either. Before we had our dog they used out planters as a litter box. We have neighbors that have a ton and they just let them roam wild. I don't have a problem with them in peoples homes but I don't think that they should be allowed to roam free.
I agree. We don't have any pets, but you would be amazed at how often we're picking up poop out of our backyard! The cats just go in the grass now, forget finding dirt.
First off, you know I love cats, BUT, I do not like strange cats in my yard :) You have the joy of having neighborhood cats in your yard because you do not have a dog to keep them out LOL, SO : #1 - the garden hose works wonders (spray them and soak where they are trying to sleep - they don't like mud) After a while, they will find a new place to hide from dogs and kids. #2 I have a cat trap you can borrow :) HAHAHA Once we rounded up the stray cats in the neighborhood, our flea problem wonderously disappeared, so I no longer feel guilty for getting rid of strays.
My parents have trap (they catch skunks) and I've seriously thought about using it. However, 1) it is illegal to relocate animals. LOL. and 2) it's like $30 per animal to turn them into the shelters! LOL. So I'm kinda stuck on how to get rid of them.
I think they may belong to surrounding neighbors who've been evicted in the last several months, etc.
If they are strays, and in a cage, the humaine society came out each time we called, same day. No problems, and no $$ :)
