New Recipe is a KEEPER!

On grocery weeks (typically the week of getting paid), I sit and make our dinner menu for two weeks. We've really cut back on the amount of eating out in the last six months and since then I've been really trying to come up with new meals to make so as to not get stuck making and eating the same meals, week after week. This week, I have a few new recipes I'm trying and I tried one for dinner last night and it was a huge hit and was deemed a "keeper". So I wanted to share the recipe.

Quick Crescent Taco Bake

1 lb. ground beef
1 pkg. taco seasoning
1 small onion - chopped
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. salsa
1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
1 1/2 c. crushed corn chips
1 c. sour cream
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
lettuce
tomatoes
extra cheese

Brown meat and onions, drain. Add seasoning mix, water and salsa. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Spread crescent roll dough in 10 inch pie plate or 8×10 inch dish to form crust. Seal edges.

Sprinkle 1 c. chips over crust.

Layer meat mixture, sour cream and cheese on top of crust.

Sprinkle with remaining corn chips. For color, I sprinkled a few chopped green onions atop.

Bake at 375° for 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Serve with lettuce, tomatoes, and more cheese.

Looks good! I love using crescent rolls, but I wish they weren't so expensive. :(

I'll have to try this, we are trying to do the same thing with planning meals out. I blogged one earlier this week that was really good.
I've been using recipes that Taylor can make, this looks like another one. :) Thanks!

Sometimes Costco sells crescent rolls at a good price for six rolls. And sometimes I'm just lucky when I find them on sale, and other times, especially for casseroles like this, I use the store brand.

Yeah, I almost always use the store brand (Kroger is the best in these parts) unless I have a rare good coupon combined with a sale.

Ryan has been making Pigs in a Blanket with crescent rolls lately, and they are yummy! Maybe I'll actually get around to blogging about his new-found interest in cooking. :)
